 ANNOUNCEMENT FOR 1300 TEMPORARY JOBS THROUGH A SPECIAL PROGRAM TO DEVELOP COTTON IN THE COUNTRY – NOW OPEN

Introduction

Once again, Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA), in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture (the implementing authority), through the youth engagement program in agriculture under the initiative "Building a Better Tomorrow - BBT", will implement various strategies and projects aimed at improving the cotton value chain. These projects will enhance crop value and increase employment opportunities for young men and women (20,000) through practical training (internships). This initiative involves activities to improve 12,000 hectares in selected villages and farming blocks with a target of reaching 2030.

If you have a passion for serving and strengthening agricultural extension services across the country, the Ministry of Agriculture is inviting applications to participate in this program through an entrepreneurship platform known as Building a Better Tomorrow Agricultural Extension and Entrepreneurship Support (BBT AEES). There are 1,300 temporary jobs available in the cotton value chain and other agricultural projects. Interested individuals are invited to apply for the following positions:

Position: Agriculture Officer (700 Positions)

Key Responsibilities include:

i. Working closely with farmers and other stakeholders in the cotton value chain to enhance productivity and efficiency in cotton farming.
ii. Assisting farmers in the effective and profitable use of land through technical advice and modern farming methods.
iii. Coordinating agricultural extension services to ensure timely and relevant interventions in cotton farming.
iv. Preparing and submitting reports on various issues related to the progress of cotton farming in the relevant areas.
