The Centre for Water Infrastructure and Sustainable Energy Futures (WISE-Futures) at the Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology (NM-AIST) is one of the Eastern and Southern Africa Centers of Excellence (ACE II). The Centre aims to strengthen African higher education institutions to deliver quality post-graduate education and build collaborative research capacity in regional priority areas.

NM-AIST invites applications from suitably skilled, competent, and experienced Tanzanians, not above 45 years, for the following posts:

CENTRE TECHNICIANS (2 POSTS)

Qualifications:

  • Holder of Diploma in either Mechanical or Laboratory Technology or Science and Laboratory Technology.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for maintaining and operating WISE-Futures technical equipment.
  • Carry out other assignments as delegated by the supervisor.
  • Carry out any other duty assigned by supervisors.

Knowledge and Essential Attributes:

  • Proficiency in English and Kiswahili, both oral and written communication skills.
  • Comfortable working with minimal supervision and in a team setting, with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Good computer competence, electronics, and familiarity with modern software (an advantage).
  • Ability to write reports.
  • Competence in proactively dealing with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to adhere to laboratory procedures and protocols.
  • Positive and helpful attitude towards assisting others and responding to tasks.
  • Positive and helpful attitude towards assisting others and responding to tasks.
  • Highly motivated, willingness to learn new skills, and adapt within the role.
  • Flexibility to work through setbacks and delays.
  • Duration of the Position:

    • Full-time two-year contract, with a probation period of six months. The position is renewable subject to satisfactory performance.

    Salary:

    • Basic Monthly Salary: 1,200,000 TShs (subject to all statutory deductions).
